Simple Silence - Contemplative Prayer Gathering

2nd Tuesday of Each Month
 
Simple Silence is our monthly contemplative prayer gathering. Our goal is for it to be a shared time in quiet and listening. So, as you enter the time, you will be invited to quiet your heart and be present to God’s presence with you. We will have a short reading/quiet meditation on Scripture followed by a 20 minute time of Centering Prayer. At the end, we will leave the space quietly and bless one another as we go.  Our heart for Simple Silence is to offer space that is free from conversation in the chapel, allowing us to enter and leave in a quiet, contemplative way, carrying the peaceful silence of God’s presence with us as we go.. The time of our gathering will be approximately 30-45 minutes.

Come away and rest with Jesus in prayer. Join a small group for a five day silent prayer retreat near the Pacific coast at beautiful Prince of Peace Abbey. We will gather for a short opening together and set off in silence and come together at to close the time.

We live in a noisy, busy world. It can be exhausting and discouraging. Jesus invites us to something different that can shape the way we are interacting with the noise. In Mark 6:31-32, we read: “Because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Come away with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’ So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.” Take some time away to follow Jesus in this invitation to rest.Come for 24 hours or make it a 48 hour retreat. Gentle facilitation at the beginning and end with options for how you might spend this time with the Lord.
